Coherence is a chain of meaning
A coherent text connects ideas logically. Connectors such as HOWEVER, THEREFORE, DESPITE, WHEREAS and CONSEQUENTLY signal relationships, but coherence also depends on reference, sequence and consistency.

Question: Why can a grammatically correct paragraph still be incoherent?
Two sentences can be grammatically correct but still form an incoherent paragraph if the relationship between them is unclear. Advanced reading requires identifying how each sentence contributes to the argument. Connectors provide signals, but readers must also track reference words and logical progression.
